Getting Started Finding a Job

Matthew 8:26 KJV
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

One day at a time, one job application at a time, God will help you navigate through the rough seas of the job market.

One of the most important aspects of your search for employment is to have a realistic plan. If you maintain a positive outlook and set realistic goals you will get what you want. Looking for work can seem like a full time job just by itself.

When you want to get the job you want you have to suit up and show up every day. Looking for work has to be a consistent and purpose filled effort. The bible tells us so many stories about challenges and how faith in God will bring you through. If you read a Proverbs daily it is a great way to start your search. Before you turn on the news or any other electronic distractions, let the word of God set the tone for the day.

The first question to ask yourself is what do you want? Then ask the same question again but listen to the word of God, not the chatter in your ear from years of negative conditioning. You have to be careful to not pay attention to the negative voice that will try to tell you that you do not deserve something or you are not good enough.

Now ask yourself what is it you need to do in order to be successful? When you set realistic goals based on realistic expectations you can be a success. People can tell you in their own opinion what they think is best for you, what they would like to see you do or what you should do. It all might sound great but unless you make a decision then stick to your decision you will not have success. If you want to be successful with your search for a new job you have to stay on task and keep your eye on the prize.

People who do not set realistic goals short change themselves and of course who else do they blame but themselves. You might have heard it. People saying, what did I think I was doing, I knew I couldn’t do it, I didn’t know what I was thinking and on and on. That negative tape will play so loud that you will put your own rubber stamp on it and run with it. You do not have to do that. You can select the job you want.

The reality of financial ruin is still there so you might have to take the first thing that comes along, just for now. Exactly as it says, just for Today. Remember that phrase? Well just for today you can take a job to get on your feet. People are more likely to find a job who are already working. When You start your job search with the right tools and a positive attitude you increase the chances you will get what you want. Above all keep it simple and remember one day at a time in God’s own time your job will come.
