Do the Faults of Others Bother You?

There is a duty of fault-finding. The Master Himself teaches it. In the Sermon on the Mount, He makes it very plain. We must note carefully, however, where the duty begins. We are to look first after our own faults. “Why do you look at the mote that is in your brother’s eye–but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?”

We must consider the beam that is in our own eye!

Alcoholics Anonymous Recovery: Twelve Steps to What!

Folks who study the Big Book, take the Twelve Steps, and carefully consider the Alcoholics Anonymous program of recovery as it is laid out in the book “Alcoholics Anonymous” should really have no problem defining the recovery program, its specified course of action, and the intended objective of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

So we will begin by looking at what the Founders and the Big Book have said about the Twelve Step program of recovery and the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Bill Wilson put these important comments in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, and here is how they are still expressed today:

I Have Forgiven My Husband’s Adultery but He is Distant

Ask Angie: I forgave husband of infidelity and adultery now he won’t talk to me nor sleep close to me what am I doing wrong?

Marriage Guidance: How can forgiveness be wrong? Forgiving others their trespasses against us is always the right thing to do, even if they continue trespassing against us. “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”. All you can do is your part in the marriage and it looks like you are attempting to do that by forgiving your husband. You didn’t tell me if he has repented of adultery or not so I can only speculate that he has not.

Let’s talk about ways in which we can heal ourselves and restore marriage after adultery.

What is Your Occupation?

Matthew 10:37-39 NKJV
“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”

A.A. & the So-called “Original Manuscript”

Many who follow my blogs, articles, books, and talks on real Alcoholics Anonymous history have asked if I have heard of the so-called Alcoholics Anonymous being published by Hazelden. A typical publicity article can be found in the Boorstein article published by The Washington Post.

As a writer, historian, retired attorney, Bible student, CDAAC, and an active and recovered member of the Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship, I have devoted 20 years to investigating Alcoholics Anonymous origins, history, founding, original program, astonishing successes and changed. See http://www.dickb.com.

Several remarks are appropriate at this time:

Living a Life of Secrets: Becoming a Character of Faith

You can live the life you love, even in the face of the most challenging circumstances. While sometimes it may appear that life throws more obstacles in your path than you can handle, you can always choose to be happy. Yes, you are that powerful. However, at the time of accounting we should not be surprised at the place that we have earned in the heart of Christ. Romans 8:18 states For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

An Invitation to Christian Eating Disorder Recovery

Does your eating disorder seem to serve a purpose in your life? Perhaps it seems that it gives you comfort or that it even serves as a distraction from painful underlying issues. Can you imagine your life without the eating disorder? Is there something unexplainable about the eating disorder that keeps you bound to it?

I can relate. It seemed impossible that I would ever be ready to let go of the eating disorder. I was even afraid of what would take its place since I felt there would be a void in my life without it. Eventually, though, I was ready to let go of the eating disorder and allow God to show me a better life without it.

Money: The Heart of the Matter

by Todd Strandberg

What is Money?

Money comes in a wide variety of forms, but it has two main purposes. First, it is a means of exchange for goods and services. If a farmer has a dozen head of cattle on his ranch and he wants to use them to buy a truck from a dealership, the salesman isn’t normally going to take the farmer’s herd of cattle for payment. The farmer could obviously take old Bossy and her companions to market and sell them for currency that he could use to purchase the vehicle.

The other purpose of money is to measure the value of something. A painting by Leonardo da Vinci is esteemed according to the number of dollars a buyer is willing to pay for it.
