Worldview Primer

A worldview is a compilation of ideas, beliefs and convictions that form the foundation of your opinions, values and actions.

A worldview is a group of ideas that speak to every area of life:

    Theology
    Philosophy
    Science
    Biology
    Sociology
    Psychology
    Law
    Politics
    Economics
    History

The main worldviews today are: Christianity, Islam, Secular Humanism, Marxist Humanism, Cosmic Humanism & Postmodernism. There are many others that can be categorized under these main headings.

Secular Humanism – belief that man is god and there is no such thing as the spiritual world or supernatural but only the natural world. The Secular Humanist view of psychology is reductionism. Man has no soul and his brain is made up of matter that reacts to chemicals and impulses and thus he is no different than an animal.
According to the Humanist Manifesto I, II and 2000 humanists believe:

      — There is no such thing as God and the supernatural
      — In the separation of church and state
      — That man is part of nature and emerged as a result of a continuous process
      — Moral values come from human experience
      — Ethics are man made and stem from human need and interest
      — People have the right to commit suicide and to doctor assisted suicide
      — Parents should not teach their religious beliefs to their children
      — The quest for the good life is the central task for mankind
      — In a socialized and cooperative economic order
      — In abortion on demand
      — The development of a world court
      — In same-sex marriage and special rights for homosexuals

    Islam

    Marxist Humanism
Cosmic Humanism or the New Age Movement
    Postmodernism

Anti-Christian Worldviews use many terms

Multiculturalism is not a study of many cultures (as we are lead to think) but is in truth a put down of western culture and a denial of all contributions of western culture to civilization, culture, education, science, law, economics and history.

Other important terms:
Moral relativism is the belief that there is no such thing as absolute moral truth because truth is relative to the individual and/or circumstances.

Nihilism is the belief that life is meaningless except for the purpose of the state.

Autonomous man is the belief that man is the center of all things and at his core is good but does bad things when impacted negatively by his environment.
