A Believer’s Life-mission: Be Transformed

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind! Romans 12:2

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness. 2 Corinthians 3:18

Learning to Change

I have birds, little Red Bishops, that came to eat outside my window. I have a feeding tray for the small seed eaters.

Most of them have changed colour, all ready for the mating season.

But there are still a few that do not have the full new plumes and some have just began (late bloomers). And I seem to be like these always changing never coming to any kind of conclusion or completion.

Don’t want to remain in the old plumes they are too drab and painful.

Don’t want to change to the new ones because that requires responsibility and bringing up a new generation.

Plus if I am a bit of both…. great !!!! don’t have to make a choice to be either or…..????

How Important are Your Plans?

Proverbs 19:21 NRSV
The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.

Are You Tending Your Garden?

Recovery is much like tending our own garden. A garden needs water, fertilizer, sunshine, good soil and a lot of attention by the gardener. We, as Christians and recovering people need:

  • the water of prayer, meditation, and communing with God
  • the fertilizer of fellowship
  • the “Sonshine” of resting in Him (letting go and letting God)
  • the rich soil of God’s Word in which to firmly anchor our roots. Not only must we read the Word but we must *understand* it and *actively apply* it to our own lives. Roots must be anchored in the soil, they must take up the nourishment and then send it to the entire system of the plant so it may flourish.
  • a lot of attention by us, as our own gardeners, to remove all weeds that appear.

Putting Off Old Habits and Putting On New Habits – Worksheet

In order to change one’s life it is necessary to put off or eliminate unwanted behaviors. Therefor it is essential to replace unwanted behaviors with a corresponding desired behavior.

Are You Willing to Learn?

Proverbs 1:2-6 NRSV
For learning about wisdom and instruction,
for understanding words of insight,
for gaining instruction in wise dealing,
righteousness, justice, and equity;
to teach shrewdness to the simple,
knowledge and prudence to the young—
let the wise also hear and gain in learning,
and the discerning acquire skill,
to understand a proverb and a figure,
the words of the wise and their riddles.
