Hi. My name is Laura.
I have gone through an immense amount of healing, and would like to share it.
From the time I was 4 to the time I was 12, I was sexually abused by my father. His abuse was violent and varied, ranging from rape to bleach poisoning to gagging, choking, and tying me to the bed while abusing me.
When I went into counseling at age 14 for emotionally induced seizures, I could no longer stand it and had to tell someone. At that point, I was on the verge of a multiple personality disorder. I thought I belonged to the darkness and always would.
Then I read 1 Thessalonians 5:5, which states that we are all children of the Light and of the day, and do not belong to darkness or night. This proved a turning point in my recovery, and I began to feel that Christ truly is my hope of glory. After many years of working diligently, I have reached the point where I am today. I am now 24 and a junior in college, majoring in social work with an emphasis on women and violence.
I want to encourage those of you who are just starting this journey. God is good, and he will carry you. It may seem dark, but He will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in Secret Places, so that you may know that He is the Lord.
(Isaiah 45:3)
Remember that you belong to Light and Victory!
May The Lord be with you.
The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 1 John 1:5
