What is Your Purpose?

Doing what I am supposed to do, according to the Bible, is one of the hardest things in life. It’s easy to be self-indulgent. It’s easy to be lazy. It’s easy to hide behind my emotions, my desires, my fears. It’s hard to be a Christian.

Proverbs 19:3
One’s own folly leads to ruin,
yet the heart rages against the Lord.

A Pastor’s Letter to His Daughter

This is an excerpt from a letter from Legh Richmond (1772-1827) to one of his daughters. We all can be instructed by these words.

My dear daughter,
May my dear child be preserved from the defilements of a vain, dangerous, and destroying world. You know not, and I wish you never may know–its snares and corruptions!

I send you the following applications of my sermon on Ephesians 5:15-16, “Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

On circumspection of walk, redemption of time, and general sincerity of character:

1. Adhere most scrupulously to Scriptural truth; and labor to preserve the strictest integrity, simplicity, and sincerity.

A Love Story

One day, I woke early in the morning to watch the sunrise.
Ah! The beauty of God’s creation is beyond description!
As I watched, I praised God for His beautiful work.
As I sat there, I felt the Lord’s presence with me.

    He asked me,
    “Do you love me?”
    I answered,
“Of course, God! You are my Lord and Saviour!”

    *******************************************

    Then He asked,
“If you were physically handicapped, would you still love me?”

I was perplexed. I looked down upon my arms, legs and the rest
of my body and wondered how many things I wouldn’t be able to do,
the things that I took for granted.

And I answered, “It would be tough Lord, but I would still love You.”

How to Beome A Christian and Live the Christian Life

How to Become A Christian
1. Recognize that you are not a Christian because you are good, for God’s Word declares,
“There is none that doeth good, no not one.” (Romans 3:12)

2. Recognize that you are not a Christian because you are doing the best you can, for God’s Word declares,
“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

3. Recognize that you are not necessarily a Christian because you are a member of some church, for again God’s Word declares that many have
“a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof; from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:5)

Footprints

One night a man had a dream, and in his dream he reviewed the footsteps he had taken in his life. He looked and noticed that all over the mountains and difficult places that he had traveled, there was one set of footprints… but over the plains and down the hills, there were two sets of footprints, as if someone had walked by his side.

He turned to Christ and said, “There is something I don’t understand. Why is it that down the hills and over the smooth and easy places you have walked by my side; but, here over the tough and difficult places, I have walked alone; for I see in those areas there is just one set of footprints.”

What’s the Difference Between a Sponsor and a Therapist?

1) Your sponsor isn’t all that interested in the “reasons” you drank.

2) Your therapist thinks your root problem is your lack of self-esteem, negative self-image, and your poor self-concept. Your sponsor thinks your problem is a 3-letter word w/no hyphens… YOU.

3) Your therapist wants u to pamper your ‘inner child.’ Your sponsor thinks it ought to be ‘Spanked’ or ‘Taken out and Shot!’
