Keep Your Eye on the Prize

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 King James Version

One of the most vicious and cruel ways that satan attacks us is by constantly reminding us of the things we did before we accepted Jesus into our hearts as our personal Saviour. Our Scripture verses for this devotion tell us that we should forget those things which are behind and live for today and for tomorrow. There is nothing that we can do to change our past. If we have confessed our sins, they are under the precious blood of Jesus never to be remembered or held against us again.

We read in the Bible “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103: 8 – 12).

The next time satan starts to bring up your past sins and mistakes, tell him that your sins are under the precious blood of Jesus. It is time that we stand on the blood of Jesus and on our solid rock, the Lord Jesus Christ. When you feel like you are starting to go under for the last time, climb up on the rock of Jesus and nobody or nothing can harm you. Thank God for the atoning blood of Jesus. We must keep our eyes on the prize, spending all eternity with our precious Saviour.
