I just found out that I have AIDS. What do I do?

This must be a difficult and very scary time for you. Have you given your life to the Lord? Have you trusted Jesus to be your Savior and friend? If not, you need to. He wants to trade burdens with you. In Matthew 11:30, He says, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” If you turn to the Lord, you still will have AIDS but you will have the assurance that Jesus Christ, himself, will help you by carrying the burden for you. He will get you through it. And then you will spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

It would be easy for you to turn against God and wonder why a God of mercy could allow such a terrible disease. But, you must realize that disease and death are part of this life because of the fallen state of mankind. Jesus wants to saves us from that, eternally. Satan’s plan as contrasted with Jesus’ plan is outlined clearly in John 10:10: “the thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.” All you have to do is pray a simple prayer from your heart, like this one: “Lord Jesus, I don’t understand all that is happening to me, but I know that I need you. I am sorry for the life I have lived apart from You. I ask You to forgive me. Please come into my life and help me as I face this difficult time. Thank you for saving me. Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, you will never again be alone. Now, you need to begin to read the Word of God daily and seek the Lord through prayer. He will guide you as you move forward. If you have not yet trusted someone else with your news, find at least one person whom you can trust and lean on. I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you in His loving care as you press on.

“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” (I Corinthians6:17)

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

If you prayed with your heart for the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart, then be of good cheer because those who are “joined unto the Lord” are one in spirit with Him. In other words if you have asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and have Him in your heart, then you will NOT go through this ordeal by yourself. Nobody knows how long they have on this earth. Therefore, use your time effectively for the Lord and “glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”.
