Send Somebody

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8, King James Version

I read about a lady who went on a mission trip several years ago. She was very disturbed, angry and appalled at the living conditions of the children. She prayed and asked God “Why don’t You send somebody to help these children”? God replied “I did, I sent you”. I wonder how many times He has sent us to people to encourage and help them and we didn’t even know it. So many times when we see people who need help we pray for them but we never do anything ourselves to help. I think a lot of the times we just don’t want to get involved because it will take us out of our comfort zone. May God forgive us for being so wrapped up in our own lives that we neglect others!

I wonder how many times we have prayed and asked God to send somebody to help with a person who is in a desperate situation, who is feeling hopeless and unloved by anyone, and perhaps thinking about committing suicide. O that we would listen to the heart and commandments of Jesus. He has told us over and over again that we are to be encouragers to one another. We must be willing to get involved and we should make ourselves available to these dear people who are hurting and need someone to listen to them.

Yes, we are to pray for the person and make sure that the person gets the help he or she needs, but Jesus isn’t here in person to hug the ones who are hurting. He has left us to reach out to the wounded, hopeless and discouraged people and hug them for Him. It is extremely important and urgent that we hug them and encourage the people who are hurting, lonely and have no hope through our loving words and actions.

If we have invited Jesus into our hearts to be our personal Saviour, then we have the hope of Jesus in our hearts. When the people who desperately need to know they are loved and that somebody cares about them look at us, they should be able to see the hope, happiness, joy, peace and love of Jesus in us. O that we would live our lives in such a way that people would want the joy, happiness and peace that we have!

Let’s not pray for God to send somebody; let’s you and I become that somebody. I challenge all of us to realize that everybody we meet is precious to Jesus. He loves all of us equally; He has no favorites. There is nothing that we can do to earn His love. All the money in the world and all the good deeds that we do will not make us worthy of His love. It is only through the atoning blood of Jesus that He shed for us on the cross of Calvary that we are made worthy to be brought before our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Father is a Holy God and He cannot look on sin so we must be cleansed in the precious atoning blood of Jesus and presented to Him by Jesus. Has Jesus presented you to our Heavenly Father?
