Struggling with Same Sex Attraction?
Are you struggling with attraction to someone of the same sex?
What is Your Heart Attitude?
I am a fairly deceived and deceitful woman. Oh, it's not that I go about lying day after day. I do my best to be as honest as possible. But I think that I often deceive myself by lying about my own heart condition. Rather than spending time in prayer (who has time these days?) seeking God's will, I make my own decision, ask God to bless it, and then blissfully go on my way thinking that His "stamp of approval" (through my request) solves it all. And I think I'm not alone in this, but rather am surrounded by many. There are things that I think American Christians do, thinking we are doing the "right" thing, when what we are doing is actually rebellious and self-centered. We give . . . a little. We pray . . . a little. We respect . . . a little. We have compassion . . . a little.
I had 14 Felony Counts
I had to walk through tough times with the courts. I had 14 felony counts. Three counts of sales, loaded handgun, stolen property etc.... When I had my day in court, I was 5 months clean and sober, with two treatment facilities under my belt. I was sentenced to 1 year county jail (not prison) and three years felony probation. The effort I put forth on "changing" my lifestyle (before my court date) made a big difference in the way the Courts, Probation and the District Attorney viewed my case. This year in jail was probably the best thing that happened to me. I see now that I was not arrested, I was rescued.
Do I Need a Sponsor?
Sponsors are not mandatory components of recovery programs, but I do recommend the acquisition of a sponsor during the first few months of your recovery.
When I finally became disgusted with my feeble attempts at recovery on my own, I decided to get a sponsor. I didn't just go up to the first male member and ask him to be my sponsor. I had to ask several members if they were available for sponsorship. Sometimes, if you are a newcomer, a member will volunteer to be your sponsor if you ask if they are available. But be prepared to ask more than two or three people to be your sponsor. You may even have to change your meeting location to find a sponsor, especially if your home group is small.
Get to a Meeting
If you want to remain clean and sober, I suggest that you get to a meeting, and frequently.
Finances for Teens (and everyone)
by Timothy D. Terrell » Bio
The days of the piggy bank and the dollar-a-week allowance are past. You've got a job, and you're making several thousand dollars a year, boosted by those Christmas gifts from your family. Maybe your first tax return is due this April 15. The financial side of your life is definitely different from what it was two or three years ago.
So the question is, what do you do with all that newfound wealth? Certainly your local shopping mall has lots of ideas for you. Or maybe you have your eye on a big purchase, like a car. If you're like most of us, whatever is on your wish list, it's a sure thing your money will run out before your wish list does.
The Valley Called Decision
One day a man walked into his place of worship and to his surprise the devil was at the altar weeping bitterly. When the man asked him, "Hey, what's wrong with you?" His reply was, "Everyone blames me for everything!"
This fictional story serves to remind us how easy it is to point fingers. We, like water, seek out the easiest course to follow. You see, it's so much more convenient to blame everyone rather than to look deep into ourselves. Not until I began to honestly take inventory of my own personal life, was I able to admit to myself that I was in dire need of a total spiritual and emotional make-over.
It's a humbling experience for anyone to look into the mirror and say, "I have met the enemy and the enemy is me!"
Sexual Cultism
On Friday, February 2, 2007, ABC's "20/20" broadcast a show on the sex-cult "The Family of Love," known today simply as "The Family." Prior to its new designation, it was known as The Children of God (COG), a cult founded by David (Moses David) Berg, who used sex as an intoxicant to keep the cult together. Berg once said: "I practice what I preach! And I preach sex, boys and girls." Homosexuality, lesbianism, incest, and group sex were all legitimized by the COG cult. Berg's daughter, Deborah (Linda Berg) Davis writes in The Children of God: The Inside Story how her father justified his perverted view of sex because he first perverted Scripture.
Sex and the Brain
“WOW that felt good!” This is a common cognition when a man has an orgasm, otherwise known as an ejaculation. What most people don’t know is why an orgasm feels so good. In fact, the reason it feels so incredible is the same reason why some men form addictive patterns at the neurological level in their brains through a process known as “conditioning.”
