Why Am I Choosing This for My Body?

What manner of persons ought we to be?

I think that we, as Christians, sometimes are so inundated with the “stuff” of modern Christianity that we often forget the things that are most basic and most important in our faith, those things which separate us from the rest of the world. It is those things which define the manner of persons we ought to be, those things which define “holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God.”

Death Info & Help

According to Billy Graham Christian Worker's Handbook

The Bible contains hundreds of references to death. It is a formidable foe:
"The last enemy that will be destroyed is death." (1 Corinthians 15:26); but also a conquered foe: "Death is swallowed up in victory." (1 Corinthians 15:54).

Jesus Christ has changed the meaning of death, as Scripture shows. At death, the spirit of the believing Christian enters immediately into the
presence of the Lord. Physical death is but a transition from life on earth with Christ to life in heaven with Christ. Death does not alter the continuity of relationship; it only enriches it.

Abuse: It's Deceptions, Forms & HealingPremium Content

As we already know, abuse can come in many forms: physical, emotional, sexual, verbal, financial, spiritual and so on. For the most part, it is you that is the victim or survivor of abuse. But what if the abuser is you? How do you deal with the fact that you are an abuser yourself? Do you blame it on being abused yourself? Is it a result of growing up watching your parents while one abuses the other? How do you change your behaviour? Do you want to change your behaviour? There are many questions regarding when you are the abuser and there are many roads to choose from of which to travel down. Also, what if you are not the abuser, but the person being abused? What are your options? What actions should you take to end the violence?

STEP 1
We admitted we were powerless over our dependencies that our lives had become unmanageable

Matthew 9:36
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

Step 1 asks us to confront the chaos and the unmanageability of our dependent life-styles. The paradox of every addiction is that the more we try to compulsively control ourselves and others through the practice of the addiction, more out of control our lives spin.

The Trials, Sorrows and Losses in Our Lives

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. . . . He prunes every branch that produces fruit--so that it will produce more fruit." John 15:1-2

Expect OppositionPremium Content

Nehemiah 4:14 NIV "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."

When we strive to rebuild our lives because of the loss of a family member, marital conflict, divorce, economic instability, addiction, betrayal or some other challenge, we can expect opposition. The devil hates us and uses people to mock us, to threaten us or to block our rebuilding. Nehemiah faced the ridicule and the threats of Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the men of Ashdod.

Having Faith is Better Than Seeing

Thomas has the ignoble reputation of being "Doubting Thomas." I wonder who first gave him that epithet. Certainly, it's not in scripture, and yet it may not be without merit. It's obvious that the Lord rebuke, however gently, Thomas to failing to believe even though he didn't see. For doubting.

John 20:24-29 NKJV
