It’s Okay

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. Proverbs 3:25-26 King James Version

The first time I covered my parakeet’s cage at bedtime on the day that I brought him home from the pet store, he became nervous and afraid. I lifted the cover just enough to give him a little light and said “It’s okay, Happy. Momma’s here.” He immediately stopped flying around his cage. I lifted the cover again to be sure that he was okay about ten minutes later and he was asleep. I had given him the assurance that he was not alone and everything was going to be okay.

When we become afraid and nervous due to the frightening and difficult situations that we encounter, Jesus does the same thing for us. He shines His light a little brighter in our hearts. He also sits beside our beds when the night seems endless and we can’t sleep due to our grief and heartaches. He holds us close to His compassionate heart and tenderly kisses our tears away. He reassures us that He is still with us even though we can’t see the light due to the darkness of despair and grief in our hearts.

If we will listen with our hearts, we will hear Jesus saying to us “It’s okay. I’m here. I will walk with you through this dark valley and will bring you through it victoriously. I will put the light of joy and happiness in your heart once again. You don’t have to be afraid because I will protect you.” What a comfort it is to know that the Saviour of the world is with us in the bad times as well as in the good times.

If you are frightened and discouraged today and feel all alone and that no one understands what you are going through, allow Jesus to comfort and encourage you. He will never leave you, not even for one minute. Remember, you are loved by the Saviour of the world. He loves you so much that He died on a cross of horror and agony for your sins. What a Saviour! What a friend, this Jesus of Nazareth! There is no one like Jesus! No one loves you like Jesus loves you. Thank You, Jesus, for loving us and for caring about us.
