Just As You Are

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36:26-27 King James Version

I watched a Billy Graham crusade on television last night. They played the song “Just As I Am” during the invitation time. As I listened as they sang this beautiful song, I thought about how many times I had tried to change my attitude, my habits and my life before I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour. I finally realized that there was nothing I could do to clean myself up before I asked Jesus to save me. Only His precious atoning blood could cleanse us from my sins.

You can’t clean yourself up and change your heart and life no matter how hard you try. Only Jesus can change our hearts and our lives. He wants us to come to Him just as we are. If we were perfect, we wouldn’t need a Saviour and He wouldn’t have had to suffer such agony and pain on the cruel cross of Calvary. Thank God that our precious Saviour loves us enough that He was willing to die for us on the cross. What amazing unconditional love and compassion from the heart of Jesus!

Have you been trying to change your life and become perfect before you go to Jesus? It will never work. It is impossible for you to change your heart and your life. You must humble yourself and admit that you are a sinner and go to Jesus with a broken heart for your sins. When you go to Him just as you are and ask Him to forgive you of your sins, He will cleanse you of all unrighteousness and give you a new heart.

Have you accepted the Christ of Calvary as your personal Saviour? If not, I urge you, I plead with you to say “yes” to Jesus before it is too late. One day it will be too late for you to ask Jesus into your heart to be your personal Saviour. He is going to return for us without any warning. Will you be ready to meet Him? You must make the decision between staying in the control of satan or giving your heart and life to Jesus. Your family and friends can’t make the decision for you as much as they want to do so. The decision is yours. What will you do with Jesus? Salvation is a personal matter between you and Jesus. Open the door of your heart today and let Jesus come in before it is too late!
