An Abundant Life

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 King James Version

Did you know that Jesus wants us to live an abundant life? However, there are times when He can’t bless us with good things because of the condition of our hearts. If we harbor unforgiveness, criticism, sarcasm and all other things which stink in the nostrils of Jesus in our hearts, we will live a life that is filled with discouragement and sadness. I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that the only way to live a happy and abundant life is to have our hearts in right standing with God.

Are you living an abundant life that is full of joy, peace, happiness and excitement? If not, allow Jesus to search your heart and remove anything that might hurt Him and displease Him. It is only by allowing our precious Saviour to remove all of the bitterness, resentment, jealousy, criticism, sarcasm and unforgiveness from our hearts that we will be able to serve Him effectively, the way He wants us to serve Him.

Since God gave me the ministries of encouraging pastors and writing devotions when Jesus inspires me on January 24, 2005, I have had a joy and an excitement in my heart that I had never felt in my life. Many people ask me if I get discouraged at times. Of course I get discouraged just like you do. I’m not perfect; I am only a sinner saved by the cleansing atoning blood of my precious Saviour. However, even in the midst of the most difficult day there is always a spark of joy and excitement because I know that Jesus loves me, and that He loves me unconditionally.

I don’t know what problems and heartaches you have in your life but I do know that Jesus is more than enough to solve them if you will only trust Him. So many times we pray and ask God for help and then as soon as we say “Amen”, we immediately try to figure out how to solve our problems. I used to sing a song in Sunday School and the words in this song are so meaningful “Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.”

Are you taking your problems and burdens to Jesus and waiting for Him to work in the situation or are you trying to solve them yourself? It hasn’t worked before and it never will work. O you may experience a temporary solution but it won’t last. Only Jesus can give a lasting peace, joy, happiness and excitement. Our precious Saviour wants you to live an abundant life but you must allow Him to take all of the things that hurt Him and bring shame to Him out of your heart. Allow Jesus to weed your heart and remove the weeds of bitterness, resentment, jealousy, sarcasm, criticism and judgment.
