Never the Same

"While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."
Genesis 8:22 King James Version

I told a friend of mine yesterday afternoon while I was talking to her on the telephone that the weather where I live has been so hot for two days this week that I was able to open my windows and wear summer clothes. Then the weather turned cold again. Jesus tells us that we will always have cold and heat and summer and winter. However, sometimes we have days when it is hot enough in the winter to open the windows.

The weather is unpredictable despite the best efforts to predict it. We can predict the weather but God controls the weather. Sometimes in our eagerness to predict things, we forget that God controls everything. We need to be very careful that we don’t say that things will be a certain way for sure because only God knows what is going to happen with the weather and other things.

The same is true with our lives. We can have day after day of calm, peace and happiness in our hearts when all of a sudden; satan once again hurls his poisonous barbs of sarcasm and criticism. Once again we have broken hearts and our lives are full of turmoil and crises. As long as we are on this earth, we will always have cold and heat, summer and winter, peace and chaos and heartaches and happiness.

What it really comes down to is that we need each other. We must be an encouragement to each other. Where we make our mistake is not being an encouragement to each other on a consistent basis. We get so involved with our daily lives and schedules that we forget to call or email someone and say "I’m here for you." This is just another trick of satan to keep us from having peace in our lives. We must always be aware that satan wants to discourage us from serving Jesus. It makes satan very angry when he sees how happy we are and he will do his best to cause conflict and chaos in our marriages, in our homes and in our friendships.

No, the weather never stays the same just as our lives never stay the same. However, I have good news for you. We read in the Bible "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Hebrews 13: 8). Our precious Saviour never changes. He is the same today as He was yesterday and He will be the same tomorrow as He is today.

He will never leave us, not even for one minute. He will be faithful to take our hands and walk with us through the dark valleys. He will always bring us through the valleys victoriously. He will once again set us on the mountain tops of peace and happiness. What a precious, loving Saviour we serve! There is no one like Jesus! No one loves us like our dear Heavenly Father and our precious Saviour!

If today you are walking through the dark valleys of loneliness, despair, heartaches and uncertainty, place your hand in the hand of Jesus. He will once again fill your heart with peace, joy, happiness, excitement and a determination to go on no matter what comes your way. Don’t let satan discourage and defeat you. Allow Jesus to take all of your heartaches and burdens away. Jesus is waiting to hold you close to His heart of compassion. Go to Him right now and you will stop hurting.
