Our Shelter from the Heat

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." Psalm 121 King James Version

When the heat from the storms of criticism and sarcasm that we encounter threatens to overwhelm us, we need to remember that Jesus will preserve us from all evil. The world and satan can throw all of the fiery poisonous darts they have at us but Jesus will protect us. Not only will He protect us, He will also give us peace in the midst of the crises and heartaches. Indeed, we have a precious Saviour. Not only does He save our souls, He saves us from the heat of life’s storms.

Many years ago, I used to have terrible nightmares that were so real that I was literally afraid to close my eyes for fear of falling asleep. Then one day, I read this chapter and I was able to go to sleep without worrying about having those nightmares. The Bible tells us that Jesus neither slumbers nor sleeps. I can go to bed at night with the assurance that Jesus will watch over me while I sleep and He will protect me.

Is the heat of the storms in your life getting too hot? If so, run into the waiting arms of Jesus and let Him cool you off with His understanding and unconditional love. Not only will He protect you; He will also give you peace in the midst of your heartaches and crises. When He was here on earth, He also was overwhelmed with the storms of life. He felt the heat of hatred, rejection, criticism and scorn so He really does understand how we feel when we are hurting and when our hearts are breaking. There is nothing too hard for Jesus. He is able to protect us from anything that satan and the world hurls at us. Thank You, Jesus, for being our shelter from the heat of life’s storms.
