The Bread of Life

[color:#000099]“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”John 6:32-35 KJV[/color]

I had a ham sandwich for lunch yesterday. An hour after I had finished the sandwich I was hungry again. We have the bread of life, our precious Saviour, and if we will go to Him we will never hunger. However, when we go to Him and ask forgiveness for our sins and ask Him to cleanse us and save us with His atoning blood, we must go to Him with our hearts and not with our lips and our intellect.

So often, we ask Him to forgive us but we haven’t given Him our hearts, only a verbal and head acknowledgment. If we haven’t given Him our hearts and our lives, then we will hunger again because it is only as He fills us with Himself that we have the bread of life.

Our bread of life, Jesus, is enriched with the necessary vitamins of hope, peace, unconditional love, happiness, contentment, joy, protection, compassion, forgiveness, grace and mercy. When we accept Him as our personal Saviour, He fills our hearts with His vitamins. I take a vitamin every morning, a one a day vitamin, but if I didn’t have Jesus in my heart and if I didn’t read my Bible and spend time with Him, that one a day vitamin that I got at the store would be meaningless.

We can take all the medicine in the world but if we don’t have the life giving and enrichment vitamins of Jesus in our hearts, we will never be able to continue serving Him in a world that is filled with violence, discouragement, hatred and criticism. We would never be able to withstand the poisonous barbs of satan and the world. Just as people who have heart problems have to take medicine prescribed by their doctors, so we have to take the vitamins that our great Physician gives to us.

Do you have the bread of life in your heart? Have you accepted Jesus into your heart or did you just make a verbal and intellect commitment to Him? If you are hungry for unconditional love, Jesus not only gives unconditional love, He is unconditional love!

Thank You, Jesus, for all You have done for us and for freely giving of Yourself and for giving us Your forgiveness, mercy, grace, kindness, understanding, tenderness, compassion and companionship. Indeed, You are the beautiful Rose of Sharon and I love You with all of my heart. Thank You so very much for loving me enough to die for me. I can’t wait until I see You face to face. On that glorious day, I will be able to hug You and try to tell You how much I appreciate You. Again, I say thank You, Jesus, for all You have done for me. Amen
