Help with CIR's Site
If the CIR Web Site Does Not Work for You
If our web site does not work for you, you need to install Java on your system. Go to: http://www.java.com and download the application. After you have installed Java, reboot your computer.
If you do have Java installed, make sure to get the latest version by following the instructions above
If you have the latest version of Java, you may have to enable it on your system.
To turn on JavaScript, follow the directions below:
Microsoft Internet Explorer (Windows)
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu
- Click the Security tab

All of our Meetings are scheduled. You may find the schedule here:

Feel free to use the chat rooms in between meetings. It is helpful to log into the chat room LOBBY and remain logged in.
You can go off and do your normal surfing or use the CIR Message Boards while you are waiting for another member to show up.
When someone else comes into the chat room, you will hear a door bell. Return to the chat room and start talking with them.
Make sure your settings in the chat room are correct.
Under "Options"
select "Sound On Enter"
then select: "Doorbell"
How to Disable Popup Blockers
You will not be able to use the CIR Chat Rooms if the popup blocker on your web browser is enabled.

You can allow pop-up windows to open in the CIR web site by adding
http://christians-in-recovery.org
http://host7.parachat.com
to the Allowed sites list.
To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
In the Address of Web site to allow box, type the address of the Web sites:
http://christians-in-recovery.org
http://host7.parachat.com
and then click Add.
Click Close.

We suggest you print out this page and use it as a reference until you learn how to use the
Chat Rooms. Make sure to scroll down this page so you do not miss anything.
If you cannot see the entire window for the chat room (i.e., the space where you type in is
missing or the column with the names of people is missing) go to the menu bar at the top of your
screen above where it says "Christians in Recovery Chat Rooms" and click on:
View > Zoom > Zoom Out






RSS Feed Info
CIR has RSS Feeds. If you don't know that they are and want to learn how to use them go to What is RSS? or Wikipedia for detailed information.
You will see this icon in the lower left hand side of CIR web site pages that have collections of articles:

Just click on the icon to subscribe to the desired RSS Feed related to that page.
What is RSS?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. CIR syndicates its content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
This allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from CIR.

All User Names and Passwords are CASE SENSITIVE and therefore must be typed with the exact same upper/lower case combination as you originally set.
If you are being asked to repeatedly log in to the CIR members
only area:
1) If you are behind a firewall, make sure it is set
to allow http://christians-in-recovery.org
2) if your web browser is automatically filling in your
UserID and password it may be corrupt or becoming
confused (this often happens with Internet Explorer).
Delete all cookies and files by:
Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies

Ensure You Receive Your CIR Emails
If you are not getting your emails from CIR, chances are that your Internet Provider is blocking CIR's emails to you.
