Give the Gift of Recovery
Do you have a friend or know of someone who just lost a job, is struggling with life, addiction or relationships, has a new baby, etc.? Don't do something that matters little after a day or two. Make a difference! There are many ways to give the gift of recovery to a friend or loved one. Give the gift that will change their life:
Give a CIR scholarship to someone in need
CIR Prayer Warriors
CIR's Prayer Warriors pray on a regular basis for CIR Members and the CIR Ministry. If you are a Prayer Warrior, you are invited to join with this group to support other CIR members in prayer. All you have to do is Contact Us to let us know you are interested and participate in:
- Message Boards Prayer Forums
- Prayers, Prayer Requests & Answers
Get active and participate there. Intercede and pray for the requests that
are posted. Make note of those requests and pray for these people throughout the day. - Prayer Warrior's Corner
Topic Suggestions for Meetings
At the beginning of the meeting ask those attending if there is anything on their mind or that they would like to discuss with their fellow Christians in recovery. If no one responds suggest a topic. Think up something that YOU would like to discuss. Below are some suggestions. You do not have to stick with these topics. These are only suggestions!
Use theses as a springboard for discussion:
CIR Workbook & Meeting Guide
CIR Devotional Journal
Daily Recovery Thought, Scripture & Prayer as a springboard for discussion.
The 12 Steps
Select a favorite scripture and discuss that.
One on One with Newbies
At times you may find yourself in a one-on-one situation (you and one newcomer alone in the chat room). Remember that some people are not Christians, or may have little knowledge of the Bible. Do not launch in immediately with Christian words and concepts, and lots of Bible quotes. Start from where they are spiritually and not where you are. Pray asking God for guidance
Munchausen Syndrome
(Fakers, Fraud, Attention Seekers)
Note: Munchausen syndrome is a condition where a person fakes an illness or disease mainly to get attention from with the medical profession or from their family and friends. Sometimes it is done to obtain sympathy, to act out anger or even to control the behavior of others. It is not common but it happens occasionally. Now it is happening on the internet.<
When you discuss a condition with a person in a chat room or reply to questions and comments on a message board, you may be communicating with a person who is just faking the problem. (This is important to keep in mind.) But how would you know? That person may also be playing several roles in the chat room or message board. They have simplified
Missing Meeting Host?
If a Host and/or Co-host do not show up to lead a scheduled meeting, it is up to those in attendance to take ownership and select someone among yourselves to lead the meeting. Do not be intimidated if you are selected. The meeting host is not a know-it-all. They are just there to make sure the meeting starts and ends on time and to ensure everyone stays on topic.
Please Contact Us if your host and/or co-host do not show up so we can find out what the problem is and see to it that there is a host for the next meeting.
Chat Guidelines and Etiquette
Please do not be intimidated by all of this information. You may want to print it out for future reference.
Chat and meetings are not to be confused with group therapy or professional counseling sessions. They are solely for you to share one another's personal experience, strength and hope.
All CIR meetings are scheduled. You can chat informally any time you like. The chat rooms are open 24 hours a day and are available to you to use as a "safety net." If you need immediate support and encouragement, set a time to meet with another CIR member in the chat rooms. These are YOUR chat rooms. Use them for the glory of God.
