It is an honor for us to be able to show you that we are good stewards with the funds that God, through you, has provided to this ministry. We work continually to function with transparency, accountability and excellence. We are excited by the continual growth we are seeing throughout the ministry of CIR. Without your partnership, participation and prayers none of this would be possible.

Christians in Recovery®, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. We are a not an impersonal ministry. We are a group of recovering Christians dedicated to personal one-on-one sharing of faith, strength and hope as we live each day in recovery. We work to regain and maintain balance and order in our lives through active discussion of the 12 Steps, the Bible, and experiences in our own recovery from abuse, family dysfunction, depression, anxiety, grief, relationships and/or addictions of alcohol, drugs, food, pornography, sexual addiction, etc. CIR is comprised of people like you who become Members and/or Donate. CIR is governed by a Board of Directors that meets on a regular basis.

Background
Too many people fall through the cracks of conventional recovery groups and organizations. For some people it is just too much to ask for them to walk into a room full of strangers, to stand up and say. "Hello I am Joe, I am an alcholic." or My name is Mary and I am a sex addict. It is more than they can bear. It adds insult to injury.

Many fear professional or social repercussions if they seek help for their problems. Some are going through pain and suffering because they are too afraid or ashamed to admit that they are codependent, or abused by their spouse, or same sex attracted or drinking too much or too fat or too thin. Others live in rural areas or countries where no recovery resources exist. These people have been ignored by traditional recovery groups and ministries.

Those most in need have not been reached until now. Christians In Recovery® (CIR) was formed because of this need. The Internet provides a level of anonymity and security to individuals who are too afraid or ashamed of their addictive/dysfunctional behavior to approach conventional ministries and recovery groups. Christians in Recovery® gives hope, healing and fellowship to those in need of recovery.

In CIR people can reach out for the help they need without having to divulge their identity or reveal their darkest secrets to a room full of strangers. We also minister to those who live in rural areas, serve in the armed forces as well as to those who live in countries where Christianity is shunned and recovery resources are unknown.

CIR members are from all over the world including the USA, Canada, Norway, South Africa, Mongolia, Italy, Japan, India, Israel, Switzerland, Kuala Lumpur, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Kenya, Uraguay, Malaysia, England, China, Finland, Nigeria, Brazil, Ghana, Sweden, Guatemala, Scotland, Germany and elswhere.

CIR is overseen by a Board of Directors that ensures effective use of its resources and keeps the ministry on course with its mission and purpose. This Board meets every few weeks and plays an active, daily role in CIR.

Our Vision
It is the vision of the Board and Supporting Members of CIR to continue to use the latest technology, in addition to conventional means, to reach those who would normally not seek help--to catch those who fall through the cracks-- and to further spread Christian hope, healing and fellowship to those in need of recovery. Our vision is not just recovery but to go well beyond recovery so people can fully discover, explore and magnify all possibilities God intends for them as individuals.

Outreach, Programs & Services

Christians in Recovery® provides information, referral and resources for anyone who is in recovery or who desires to recover from abuse, family dysfunction, depression, anxiety, grief, stress, etc. and/or obsessive/compulsive behaviors, addictions of alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, pornography, etc.

CIR is the only full featured Christian recovery community on the Internet. You get what you pay for. Other sites on the Internet are not nearly as comprehensive as CIR. They may have message boards but they are not monitored and they have no chat. They might have a chat room but no formal scheduled or monitored chats and no information and resources. Other recovery sites will not respond to your emails. We respond to you immediately and always within 12 hours.

Each day the CIR website is visted by over 1,200 people looking for help and resources. Requests for assistance are also received by telephone, fax, email and the postal service. In the past year Christians in Recovery® has assisted over 450,000 people all at no charge to them. This is made possible by those who become Members of CIR and those who make donations.

If a recovery need arises, we are available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

We provide a Christian Online Community that is rich in content and helps our members grow spiritually. Two separate, comprehensive web sites that require daily maintenance and updating are administered. These sites contain over 180 megs of information and resources for Christians, recovering people as well as their loved ones and families.

E-mail lists are written and delivered on a daily basis.

In our Online Community Message Boards and Chat Rooms to further their recovery walk, enhance the Christian recovery community and help people to grow spiritually.

Recovery and Bible related software is written and distributed to assist those who are in recovery or seeking recovery as well as those who work with the recovery community such as counselors, pastors, ministers, etc.

RecoveryBooks.com, our online bookstore was opened in 1997 and offers thousands of recovery, Christian and self-help titles (at a discount) which people can browse and buy. This is available to everyone who seeks it 24 hours a day, every day of the week. In addition, Christians in Recovery® writes and distributes its own informational books on recovery.

Christians in Recovery®, Inc. works in conjunction with other nonprofit Recovery and Christian groups and organizations on a daily basis to assist people who are in recovery or seeking to recover as well as recovery professionals.

12 Step and Recovery materials, worksheets, information, Bible studies, resources and tools are distributed to those who request them. CIR often donates materials to missionaries and those in 3rd world countries as well as those who are in jail.

We maintain a comprehensive Online Database of thousands of Christian recovery groups, organizations and ministries that people can search looking for local resources.

Christians in Recovery® holds formal and informal support group meetings on the Internet. We run regular Christian recovery chats on a daily basis.

Noted Christian authors and recovery professionals participate in our Guest Speaker Program which addresses all aspects of recovery and faith.

We are online to offer live, real time help in the Chat Rooms and by Live Advisor. A Christian recovery blog and RSS Feed are provided.

Everyone who comes to Christians in Recovery® is served free of charge. Our services require administrative overhead as well as operational expenses such as professional services (lawyers, accountants, etc) office supplies, computers & software, utilities, postage, etc).

There's no budget, staff or facility to handle outreach and promotions. CIR depends on word of mouth to grow and let others know our resources are available to them. Our Purpose as demonstrated by GEESE

Next fall, when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying along in 'V' formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in 'V' formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 percent greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily, because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone - and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.

If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those people who are headed the same way we are.

When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point.

It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs, whether with people or with geese flying south.

Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

What messages do we give when we honk from behind?

Finally - and this is important - when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshot, and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies; and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that.
