  DID YOU KNOW?
People who quit drinking can lower their risk of getting a variety of cancers.

**Each year, about four million people in the United States seek some kind of treatment for a problem related to the use of alcohol and drugs, but that leaves around 20 million people who need substance abuse treatment but do not receive it.

A Canadian study has confirmed the link between the risk of head and neck cancers and has shown that people who stop drinking altogether can significantly reduce their risk of developing cancer. The findings are important for those who have a family history of cancer, researchers said.

** Be Transformed: New Life Awaits by John Robin Murphy
I had been through numerous 12 step and other recovery groups over the past several years dealing with compulsivity, life control tendencies and other, "addictive" personality traits and could not understand why I could not get out of the rut. Did I pray enough? Did I read my Bible enough? Did I attend Church enough ? The fact that my ⁄ our recovery is not based on our own individual efforts and performance but a real Heart transformation is the only hope to break free from the bondage.

** Inside Out by Larry Crabb
Why do things go so wrong when I'm trying so hard to be right?" If you've ever asked yourself this question, Crabb has a few answers. "Far too many Christians do not deal honestly with their lives. The pathway to change is more often discussed and debated than displayed." Crabb helps you venture inside yourself where Christ is waiting to heal, restore, and fulfill. Iincludes a 12-week study guide.

  WISDOM FROM A CIR MEMBER
One of the trickiest things I think for me early in in the program was learning that its not a Goal oriented program. I know that sounds crazy. I also wanted to be at various times -- normal, sane, okay, peaceful, righteous, and many times still DO. But the most useful thing has been to understand it as a journey that began the moment I made the decision to stop drinking & using. It's not the destination that's important, it's the train ride!  -- ClaraT
