You did the right thing by reaching out to a fellow believer and confessing your sin. You are not a failure. You are a Christian in recovery who failed. Satan wants you to forget what you have accomplished so far and to foucus on a few moments of inappropriate behavior. Jesus wants you to focus on Him!

"I am in a Bible study and I feel I should give up this privelege."
No way! That is satan talking to you again. Stay in the Word. Pray and commune with God. Ask for forgiveness and then accept His grace and mercy.

  • Ask the LORD to forgive and cleanse you of your error.
    Isaiah 1:18
    Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

  • God will not despise a broken spirit and contrite heart.
    Psalm 51:17
    The sacrifices ofGod are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

  • The Lord is kind and forgiving.
    Psalm 86:4-7
    Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. You are kind and forgiving, O LORD, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.

    Psalm 103:8-12
    The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding
    in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
    he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our
    iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is
    his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so
    far has he removed our transgressions from us.

  • God calls you to seek Him and promises you forgiveness when you
    repent.

    Isaiah 55:6-7
    Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
    Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him
    turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for
    he will freely pardon.

  • Jesus extends a loving invitation
    Matthew 11:28-30.
    Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
    rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gende and
    humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is
    easy and my burden is light.

  • We are justified (all guilt is removed) by faith in Jesus;
    in him we find peace.

    Romans 3:21-25
    Now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known,
    to which thee Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God
    comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no
    difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are
    justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ
    Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in
    his blood.

    Romans 5:1.
    Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God
    through our Lord Jesus Christ. ...

    Romans 8:1,4
    There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
    ...[for those] who do not live according to the sinful nature but according
    to the Spirit.

  • In love Jesus died to make us holy; we are without blemish.
    Hebrews 10:10.
    By that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the
    body ofJesus Christ once for all.

    Hebrews 10:14
    By one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being
    made holy.

  • The blood ofJesus Christ cleanses from all sin.
    1John 1:7
    If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one
    another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Recovery Thought:
You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed
if you don't try.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Philippians 3:12-14 NIV
Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward
what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for
which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
                                           +
+ Recovery Prayer +
LORD Jesus, When I fail I am disappointed and I am tempted to stop trying. The desire to just give up is strong indeed. Like Paul, I know I I am not perfect. I haven't learned all I should, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that You saved me for and want me to be. I will persevere and try with all my heart to forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead because of what You did on the cross and because You continuously provide the strength that I need. Thank You Jesus for I pray in Your name. Amen. Print this letter out. Every time you feel remorse and start to recriminate yourself read this. Go to God. Shame, running and hiding went out with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Jesus is your Savior! You are in our prayers. God bless you. Copyright 2003, Christians in Recovery, Inc.
