Racial differences in parents' reports of concerns about their child's development to healthcare providers may contribute to delayed diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder in black children, according to a study led by Georgia State University. The study found that compared to white parents, black parents reported significantly fewer concerns related to symptoms of ASD in their children with the disorder.

School Districts should keep in mind last year's guidance from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights that students with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder are entitled to equal educational opportunity under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The Department of Education issued this guidance after noticing, over a five-year period, that more than ten percent of complaints received by OCR alleged discrimination against students with ADHD.

Akili Interactive , an affiliate of PureTech Health , today announced top-line results from the Company's STARS-ADHD pivotal study of its lead investigational digital medicine, AKL-T01, in pediatric attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder . In a randomized, controlled trial of 348 children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD, AKL-T01 showed a statistically significant improvement compared to an active control on the predefined primary endpoint, a change in the Attention Performance Index , a composite score from the Test of Variables of Attention .

Parents react to Kent County Lead Task Force recommendations to tackle lead issue in homes

Weeks after many families learned three zip codes have some of the highest rates of lead-poisoned children in the state, and are exponentially becoming worse, the Kent County Lead Task Force publicly presented recommendations to tackle this lead endemic. Friday morning downtown Grand Rapids, the KCLTF presented their plan going forward to the community including several frustrated parents.
