to Change Your Life
to Change Your Life
This devotional journal is for those who are seeking healing and wholeness in their life as well as a closer relationship with God.
Are you addicted to a substance or behavior? Are you a victim of anxiety, fear or hopelessness? Is a behavior or thought pattern controlling your life? Are you codependent or an adult child? Do you over eat?
Strengthen your faith as you draw nearer to God through the pages of this book.
Three hundred and sixty five individual recovery thoughts with accompanying scriptures and prayers to guide you.
Was I One of "Those" Who Couldn't Recover?
You may be caught in an endless cycle of addiction, whether it be sex, drugs, alcohol, porn, relationships, food, whatever. Your heart is in the right place and you desperately want freedom from the bondage and slavery which is addiction. But the miracle has not happened. No matter how hard you try or how often or earnestly you call out to God the results are the same.
Do not loose heart! I too was caught in that very same vicious cycle. Even though I believed in God with all my heart and soul I could not find release from the cravings of addiction. No matter what I did or what I tried I would get sucked straight back into behaviors that I dreaded. It was a nightmare. There seemed no end to it. I felt weak, unworthy of God, useless, and ashamed.
How Do I Detach From an Alcoholic Spouse?
To detach with love from the alcoholic means to not allow what they do while drinking harm your emotional and or spiritual well being.
Detaching with love is something learned that over time becomes a habit-a good habit actually.
Do You Question God's Strength and Ability to Help You?
I will strengthen thee. Isaiah 41:10
God has a strong reserve with which to discharge this power; for He is able to do all things. Until you can drain dry the ocean of omnipotence, until you can break into pieces the towering mountains of almighty strength, you never need fear.

Behind the Kaleidoscope
Beyond the sugarcoated nuserynameled rhymes,
Wands no longer waving, castles in decline,
Past the golden carrots lemmings love to follow 'round,
Dreams of ease and riches now in pieces on the ground,
When Lucy and her diamonds are seen nowhere in the sky,
Puff the magic dragon's taking Chantix on the sly,
When Mister Rogers sends regrets he cannot be your friend
And Captain Kangaroo elopes with Mr. Moose's twin,
You may awake to find you're not in Kansas anymore,
Surrounded by the jungle's heat you hear the Lion's roar,
All these things, though good intended, serve as launching zones,
Take the leap of faith and find the Life behind the koans.
If God is for Us, Who can be Against Us?
But God raised Him from the dead. Acts 13:30
I have a lot of favorite verses in the Bible, but I suppose if I had to choose only one, it would be Acts 13:30: But God raised Him from the dead. Wow. How powerful is that?
Think about it. What can life throw at us that can’t be overcome by that statement of eternal truth?
Are You a Bird on a String?
For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin. Acts 8:23
If the Son sets you free--you will be free indeed! John 8:36
A bird that is tied by a string--seems to have more liberty than a bird in a cage; it flutters up and down--and yet it is held just as fast.
When a man thinks that he has escaped from the bondage of sin in general, and yet evidently remains under the power of some one favored lust--he is woefully mistaken in his judgment as to his spiritual freedom. He may boast that he is out of the cage--but assuredly, the string is on his leg!
He who has his fetters knocked off--all but one chain--is a prisoner still.
Won't You Listen?
Won't you listen my friend to the words that we share.
Won't you open your heart to a power that cares.
For within each of our souls is the spirit of living,
Within each of our hearts is a gift of giving.
Won't you be free my friend to open your mind,
to know God is with us One day at a time.

We Drank
WE DRANK FOR happiness and became unhappy.
WE DRANK FOR joy and became miserable.
WE DRANK FOR sociability and became argumentative.
WE DRANK FOR sophistication and became obnoxious.
WE DRANK FOR friendship and made enemies.
WE DRANK FOR sleep and awakened without rest.
WE DRANK FOR strength and felt weak.
WE DRANK medicinally and acquired health problems.
WE DRANK FOR relaxation and got the shakes.
WE DRANK FOR bravery and became afraid.
WE DRANK FOR confidence and became doubtful.
WE DRANK FOR freedom and became slaves.
WE DRANK to erase our problems and saw them multiply.
Utter Confusion
Utter confusion, misery and pain,
Humiliation, remorseful, ashamed.
Dreading to face the light of each day,
Not wanting to hear what people would say.
Like, "Where is your power? Where is your pride?"
They don't understand that deep down inside
I wish I knew the answers to give,
Or how to find the courage to live.
