A jury has found a man diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia should be placed under the protection of the High Court despite his request that he not be made a ward of court. "I want to do my own thing, like", he told the jury which had earlier heard from three psychiatrists that he would be a danger to himself and others if granted his wish.

Going from an occasional user of marijuana to a weekly or daily user increases an adolescent's risk of having recurrent psychotic-like experiences by 159%, according to a new Canadian study published today in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry. The study also reports effects of marijuana use on cognitive development and shows that the link between marijuana use and psychotic-like experiences is best explained by emerging symptoms of depression.

Among them, 818 women have been referred to and seen by psychiatrists for further follow up, said Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health, in Parliament on Tuesday .

Perth doctor fined for overstepping professional boundaries with female patient
