'Mood spreads from person to person via social contagion'

A new study in young adults has suggested that moods are contagious, and that teenagers are susceptible to "catching" their friends' emotional states. According to the latest data available to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 3 million adolescents aged between 12 and 17 in the United States had at least one major depressive event between 2014 and 2015.

A spokeswoman confirmed that Rep. Jamie Raskin is scheduled to speak at a town hall organized by Duty to Warn, a group of mental health professionals calling for Trump's removal from office under the Constitution's 25th Amendment because they think he is not psychologically fit.

To facilitate access at NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn we have opened a dedicated epilepsy monitoring unit," says Blanca Vazquez, MD , director of clinical trials in the Department of Neurology at NYU Langone Health and head of the epilepsy program in Brooklyn.

The asthma medication Singulair appears linked to neuropsychiatric side effects, such as depression, aggression, nightmares and headaches, according to a new review by Dutch researchers. "In our study, we give prescribing physicians the advice to be alert for signs and symptoms for allergic granulomatous angiitis [a rare complication associated with the drug] and for severe neuropsychiatric symptoms," said study lead author Dr. Meindina Haarman.

Study links brain inflammation to suicidal thinking in depression

Patients with major depressive disorder have increased brain levels of a marker of microglial activation, a sign of inflammation, according to a new study in Biological Psychiatry by researchers at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. In the study, Dr. Peter Talbot and colleagues found that the increase in the inflammatory marker was present specifically in patients with MDD who were experiencing suicidal thoughts, pinning the role of inflammation to suicidality rather than a diagnosis of MDD itself.
