The group is urging the Government to consider a law change, stating there are 11,383 fewer pubs in the UK than when the ban was introduced on July 1, 2007.

Staffordshire traders have been supported in adapting to the latest tobacco sales legislation by the county's trading standards team as the nation marks the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces. This Saturday July 1 it will be ten years to the day that the ban was introduced in England.

Lafayette smoking ban to go into effect August 1

Patrons of bars in Lafayette will still be allowed to smoke in outside patios areas but smoking inside the bar won't be allowed. On April 18, the Lafayette Parish Council decided in a 7-2 vote to extend its smoking ordinance to all clubs and bars, just like the ban that recently passed in New Orleans.

Smokers make up less than 20% of Japan's population for first time, survey finds

The number of smokers nationwide has fallen below 20 percent of the population for the first time on record, a survey showed Tuesday, giving a boost to the health ministry's proposal to ban smoking in enclosed public spaces. In the government survey of people aged 20 or older in 2016, 19.8 percent of respondents said they smoke, down 1.8 percentage points from 2013, with the downward trend observed in most age groups for both genders.
